La bête du gévaudan

A fascinating conference on the mysterious Beast of Gévaudan by Michel Salducci. Blending historical facts and legends, discover the story of the attacks that marked the Gévaudan region and explore the different hypotheses surrounding this captivating mystery.

Nearly 260 years after the events, the mystery of the Beast of Gévaudan continues to fascinate historians and the curious alike. Between June 30, 1764, and June 19, 1767, more than a hundred attacks—often fatal—were reported in the northern part of the former County of Gévaudan, which today largely corresponds to the Lozère department in southern France.

Was it a terrible historical tragedy or a legend magnified over time? Was it a wild animal, several predators, or a creature that became mythical in the collective imagination?

During this conference, Michel Salducci, who is passionate about this enigma, will revisit the historical facts, the testimonies from the time, and the different hypotheses proposed over the centuries. A captivating talk that offers a deeper understanding of one of the greatest mysteries in French history.
